The Cricket Company was founded in 1979 with the intention of creating strong marketing and promotions in the salon tools category for professional hair stylists. The first Cricket product launch was a wooden handled round brush with nylon bristles named the RP, exclusively for West Coast Beauty Supply. This was also the first brush marketed not only for stylist use, but for salon retail. This promotion was such as success that distributors all over the country requested the brush for their respective territories to sell. With that the decision was made to introduce Cricket nationally. Cricket continued to launch products that have remained staple brands to professional stylists. Static Free, Technique, Visage, Silkombs, to name a few. Cricket then developed a high quality line of salon apparel that featured "high fashion" trendy patterns and colors mixed in everyday capes, aprons, and cover-ups in cloth, waterproof, and all purpose materials.
